Short, Water-Resistant Shotgun Mics for FX3/FX6/FX30. Rode NTG5 vs Deity S-Mic 2S
When it comes to short shotgun microphones, Rode and Deity both have smaller XLR mics than their counterparts. This video features the Rode NTG5 and Deity S-Mic 2S, both short, water-resistant, XLR mics. I'll be testing them out on the Sony FX6 and FX3, but these are great for the FX30 as well. In this video the mics are tested against wind, off axis noise rejection, boom pole, indoors, outdoors, and more.

I get asked all the time what's the best XLR microphone for my fx3, fx30 or fx6.
I have a few weather resistant shotgun microphone options for you today. We are going to be doing a direct comparison of the sound of these mics in the video, and going over what you get with each kit.

This is the shorter, lighter version of the original Deity S-Mic 2, this is the Deity S-Mic 2S, the extra S at the end stands for SHORT>
This is an all metal microphone, ultra solid, made out of brass, and it weights 3ounces,
and guess what, it’s water resistant too. So you can get this thing wet and it won’t mess up the circuitry inside. Which makes this a GREAT microphone for OUTDOOR use, whether you have it on a Boom Pole, or on top of your camera.
A little rain drizzle isnt going to fry this thing.
We are going to be comparing this against the Rode NTG5. This is Rode’s Shorter, lighter,version of the NTG3.
It is also a short water resistant shotgun mic, with similar specs so we're going to be doing some sound tests and comparisons
